The company actum:

actum consulting products GmbH was founded in 1998 by two experienced IT consultants to deliver bespoke, end-to-end solutions based on existing infrastructures. As an SAP partner with 35 employees, the Hamburg-based company has been developing B2B software for various industries for over 20 years and serves a range of high-profile clients – from medium-sized businesses to world-renowned corporations. Its core competencies range from process-oriented integration and migration projects, through the harmonisation of complex, heterogeneous SAP system landscapes, to the design and implementation of cross-system business processes. In addition, actum offers customisable app and backbone development on its own platform, delivering sustainable added value.

The challenge

actum operates in a dynamic market with many IT providers and fierce competition. At the same time, there was a desire to position the company even more effectively for larger and more complex digitalisation projects – without jeopardising its own culture and the flexibility it had built up over time.

The process became particularly challenging when a buyer who had initially been the preferred candidate made new demands shortly before the planned notary appointment, prompting the sellers to terminate the process with that prospective buyer. Despite this setback, the aim was to stick to the timetable, reassess the options and find a partner that was a good strategic and cultural fit, one that would support actum’s growth trajectory in the long term.
