enercity acquires
Elektroanlagenbau Kammeyer
We laid the crucial foundation for the successful acquisition.
The company enercity:
enercity AG is one of Germany’s largest municipal energy companies and is firmly established in northern Germany. It supplies around one million people with electricity, heating and drinking water, and also offers energy-related services, including those relating to electric mobility, decentralised energy generation, energy efficiency, telecommunications and smart infrastructure.
In doing so, enercity pursues clear development goals and is positioning the company for the energy landscape of tomorrow – including the aim of becoming climate-neutral by 2040, as well as the expansion of renewable energies, future-proof grids and charging infrastructure.
The challenge
As part of the growth strategy, the aim was to further develop the existing service portfolio in a targeted manner – through an acquisition that was compelling from a technical perspective and would usefully complement the existing portfolio.
The project focused on the closely interlinked stages of a buy-side transaction: from identifying a suitable target company, through valuation and structuring, to an initial meeting at decision-maker level. Our remit was to find a partner that would optimally complement enercity’s strategic objectives and sensibly expand the existing portfolio.
The solution: the acquisition of Elektroanlagenbau Kammeyer
With the acquisition of 100% of Elektroanlagenbau Kammeyer (Buy-&-Build), enercity has acquired a target company that operates nationwide as an installation partner in traffic control technology and in regional energy plant construction. The bespoke transaction quickly led to the jointly agreed business targets being exceeded.
The selection was based on strategic fit, cultural compatibility and specific potential for synergies, which were identified during a joint workshop with the enercity team as part of the shortlisting process. Elektroanlagenbau Kammeyer, with its robust service portfolio – including in the medium-voltage sector up to 30 kV – thus supports the targeted expansion of the service offering as part of the buy-and-build strategy.
